Challenging Times
Twelve months is a long time in
business.
Twelve months ago, fuel prices were fairly
stable and Northern Rock was simply another bank. We’ve
had to learn a whole new language with phrases like
Sub Prime and Stagflation popping up every day. It makes
for interesting times in business, and helps us focus
on some key issues which don’t seem so important
in less challenging times.
• Organisations that have visibility
over activities will remain competitive.
• Businesses who manage their
costs will be leaner and make better use of their resources.
In improving these areas, the role of
the finance team is key. As the main data users, we
should be looking at the work involved in gathering
and distributing information and the costs involved.
A key target should be to gather data accurately and
quickly so that we can better advise the business on
key decisions.
Challenging times should encourage us
to be more focused on our business and we should be
able to respond quickly and flexibly to changing conditions
At General Systems we have worked successfully
with a number of clients over recent months to streamline
processes and reduce overall costs, and we will be highlighting
some of these successes in our workshop and seminar
program.
For more information on these,
and news from General Systems, please do keep an eye
on our website (www.generalsystems.co.uk)
which is regularly updated.
In the meantime, if you would like to
talk to us about how we can help you stay ahead of the
competition, then please contact myself or any of my
colleagues.
